Steel Fireplace Grate for Andirons | 24" x 13"
Using a fireplace grate on the andirons lifts the fire off the ground, improving airflow from below. This enhances the draft in the fireplace, leading to better wood burning, essential for sustainable heating.
This grate measures 60 cm (23.6") in width and 34 cm (13.4") in depth, with raised edges to keep the wood contained. All measurements are outer dimensions. The distance between the legs of the andirons is approximately 50 cm for this grate. The gap between the bars of the grate itself is 26.5 cm or 10.4" (including the bars), suitable for andirons with legs of at least 26.5 cm (10.4"). The height difference between the top of the andirons' legs and the highest point of the burning area of the grate is approximately 1.5 cm (0.59").
When selecting a grate, ensure it is not wider than the back of the fireplace or the maximum fire size you intend to burn, and also not wider than the fireback. Also, read: 10 tips for choosing a fireplace grate or andirons.
