Small Wood Grate for Andirons | 19" x 12"
By using a fireplace grate on the andirons, you elevate the fire above the ground, facilitating air circulation from below. This can enhance the draft within the fireplace, resulting in more efficient wood combustion, essential for sustainable burning.
This particular grate measures 48 cm (18.9") in width and 30 cm (11.8") in depth, with all dimensions referring to the outer measurements. The gap between the legs of the andirons is approximately 38 cm (15.0") for this grate. The space between the bars of the grate itself is 17 cm or 6.7" (including the bars), making it compatible with andirons having legs of at least 17 cm (6.7"). The height difference between the top of the andirons' legs and the highest point of the burning area of the grate is approximately 1.5 cm (0.59").
When selecting a grate for andirons, ensure it is not wider than the back of the fireplace or the maximum fire size you intend to burn, and also not wider than the fireback. For further guidance, read: 10 tips for choosing a fireplace grate or andirons.
